News & Events from Georgia Dress Casual for a Cause at Alston and Bird ACCION USA, the nation's largest microlending network, is partnering with Albany Community Together, Incorporated (ACT!), to extend credit and other financial services to low- and moderate-income small business owners in Southwest Georgia.
Through this partnership, both organizations will serve a new market of small business owners. ACCION USA will expand its service area to include the Greater Albany Region, and ACT! will provide an additional loan product option to entrepreneurs who do not qualify for its other loan products. "I am excited to have the opportunity to work with such a reputable organization to improve the lives of Georgia's hard-working entrepreneurs," said Alvin Albert, ACCION USA's Program Director. "We hope that these extended services will promote economic opportunities and enable more individuals to achieve their aspirations." ACT! will have access to ACCION USA's loan pool and will receive a portion of the computer and digital equipment granted to ACCION USA by Hewlett-Packard in 2004. The additional equipment includes a desktop computer, laser printer, digital camera and business plan and web design software. "Hewlett Packard has given us the ability to contribute immediate resources to our partnership with ACT! to expand our reach. We could not ask for a better pair of organizations with which to work," said Albert.
