(Miami, FL / January 25, 2010) - To help Miami-area residents and entrepreneurs make the most of their tax return during the prolonged recession, ACCION USA, a leader in U.S. small business loans and financial education, is offering free tax preparation services today through April 15, 2010.
Tax preparation experts, who normally charge more than $300 for their services, will be available for free one-on-one consultations, helping filers to maximize tax credits and deductions. ACCION USA is proud to offer this free tax preparation service to qualified small business owners as well.
William Mateo, Florida program director for ACCION USA, understands that this is a much-needed service in the Miami communities that ACCION USA serves. "Without proper tax preparation knowledge, filers often miss important deductions or credits, such as the Earned Income Tax credit, that can save thousands of dollars," says Mr. Mateo. "We estimate that over 300 residents and small business owners will receive this important service through our office during this year's tax season."
Offered through Miami-Dade County's Prosperity Campaign, the service will be available to households with annual incomes of $42,000 or less and to small business owners who are sole proprietors without employees, foreign income, or depreciation expenses.
While visiting the ACCION USA office for tax preparation, filers will have the opportunity to learn about ACCION USA's financial products including small business loans, credit development loans and two new products: prepaid cards and secured credit cards - both offered exclusively during tax season to Miami areas residents and small business owners. An ACCION USA staff person will also be available for individual financial coaching sessions.
WHEN: Appointments are available on a walk-in basis on Mondays and Wednesdays, 4-7 p.m. and by appointment only on Tuesdays, 4-7 p.m., today through April 15, 2010.
