The Michael Scott Mater Foundation - MSMF is a pioneer in building sustainable communities and has partnered with Accion USA, a leading national microfinance organization, to provide micro loans in Charlotte and throughout the state of North Carolina. The partnership offers increased opportunities to low and moderate income individuals, primarily minorities, seeking small business loans during a nationwide credit crunch. MSMF in partnership with Accion USA will play a key role in bolstering the small business community.

Through MSMF's Green Micro Loan Initiative, new and existing small business owners and entrepreneurs can receive loans from $500 to $50,000 and business training, business coaching, and financial literacy in order to create jobs, build assets and improve their standard of living in order to contribute to the economic development across North Carolina.

MSMF, a Charlotte based non-for-profit organization, was founded by two young veterans and seeks to build sustainable communities. Accion USA is a nonprofit organization and the largest microfinance institution in the United States and has provided over $119 million in small business loans nationwide since 1991.

"By combining ACCION USA's loan capital, credit knowledge and twenty years of experience in lending with the technical assistance and support provided by the Michael Scott Mater Foundation, we are giving entrepreneurs the resources needed to ensure their sustainability," said Paul Quintero, CEO of ACCION USA. "Charlotte entrepreneurs have just gained the support of two leading professional organizations as part of their network."
