1. How do I register to become a volunteer with ACCION USA?
You can register a volunteer profile here.
2. What projects are available to volunteers?
Projects vary from graphic designing, marketing, client outreach, business development, support with impact studies, market research and analysis, financial literacy, and public policy. To see the full database of available projects, you must register a volunteer profile page.
3. How many hours should I expect to commit each week as a volunteer?
Volunteers can work remotely. Interns work in our offices during the summer, spring, and fall. Click here for more information about internship opportunities at our offices.
4. What types of skills do ACCION USA volunteers posses?
ACCION USA welcomes any individual to volunteer to further the mission of Microfinance in the United States. From high school students to senior citizen and everyone in between, ACCION USA volunteers come from diverse areas of experience and expertise. Undergraduate interns are students in areas of study such as Economics, Finance, Business, Language, Cultural studies, and others. Professional volunteers work in investment banking, banking, accounting, law, programming and web development, design, sustainability, non-profit, and others.
All are welcome!
5. How many hours should I expect to commit each week as a volunteer?
As many or as few hours as you would like! Volunteer projects can run from two weeks to a year.
6. How flexible are the volunteer hours?
Volunteers hours are generally very flexible because many projects are completed in teams.
7. Can I volunteer for ACCION USA if I do not live near a branch location?
Yes. Volunteers work on myriad remote projects such as client outreach, graphic design, blogging, general awareness building, fundraising, and more.
8. Are there paid volunteer opportunities available at ACCION USA?
ACCION USA volunteer opportunities are unpaid positions but are considered a high level of professional development and microfinance experience.

10. What is the Microfinance Council?
Created in the Fall of 2007 and now over 200 members strong, the New York-based ACCION USA Microfinance Council is a group of professionals that contributes to the sustainability of ACCION USA by promoting microfinance among other professionals, providing strategic advice and assisting in fundraising activities.

12. As a volunteer, will I be able to interact directly with ACCION USA clients?
Your interaction with ACCION USA clients depends on the volunteer project for which you sign up. To see the profiles of some of our clients, you can visit our clients on Kiva and in our client directory?
13. I'm interested in being an AmeriCorps VISTA. Can I serve at ACCION USA?
ACCION USA is no longer accepting new VISTA volunteers. ACCION USA has relied on the support of VISTA's since our early days, we are eternally grateful for their contribution to our organization. Consider applying for an ACCION USA internship.
